How I Style: Printed Palazzo Pants - PJ Stripes

I clearly have yet to master the coy yet "candid" blogger pose for outfit shots.

Outfit Breakdown:
camel sunhat - Forever 21
tortoiseshell sunnies - Aldo
silver necklaces - Forever 21
denim jacket - Marshalls
wife-beater crop top - Urban Outfitters
pajama striped palazzos - Forever 21
mustard wedges - Target

I'm currently obsessed with any kind of pant that doesn't have a fitted silhouette - wide-legged, flared, bell bottoms, and palazzos. When I came across this pair at Forever 21, I felt the need to pick it up because I felt like it could be styled a plethora of ways - boho, menswear-inspired, minimal, the list goes on. Oh, and for the price of approximately $23, I couldn't help myself!

Exercising the rule of balancing out a voluminous garment with a fitted one, I paired my pj palazzos with a basic wife-beater crop I found in the sale section at Urban Outfitters. Wanting to keep the look slightly monochromatic, I threw on a light-wash denim jacket and cuffed its sleeves. The outfit felt a bit too plain, so I oomphed it up by layering two different silver triangle pendant necklaces. I'm not big on jewelry so I've been trying to get into the habit of wearing the pieces I actually own. Still felt like it was lacking in the jewelry department, I would've preferred to top the outfit off with a DYLANLEX necklace, except ya girl doesn't have $430-$1,500 for one of those beauties. I don't even have enough for a Nasty Gal lookalike *crying emoji*. Hopefully I'll be adding more necklaces and bracelets to my jewelry armoire soon - which will most likely be purchased from Forever 21 or maybe even Aldo, the way that my budget is set up.

For a pop of color, I slipped into these mustard wedges I scored from the sale section (I'm clearly a bargain shopper) at Target when I was 14, plus, I needed the extra height to keep the hem of the pants from pooling around my feet *laughing emoji*. As for the camel sunhat - I feel naked without a hat on, and it was the only one in my non-extensive collection that actually went with the outfit and wasn't a baseball cap.

For my first post, I had haphazardly planned the shoot for it. My photographer Ariel, aka Bim/Bimbo (Instagram: @imyourbimbo), and I ended up shooting at The Highline. I originally tried to avoid this spot in an attempt for originality since so many shoots happen here but I just couldn't resist its scenic quality, so I didn't fuss too much over it. However, I must mention that as we were about to shoot, both of Bim's camera batteries died so we had to improvise and switch from DSLR quality to iPhone 6 quality. Thanks to his awesome (camera phone) photo editing skills, he saved the day. So kudos to you, Bimbo, 'cause the shots came out pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. What do you guys think?
